Developing iPhone Web Apps

Since the creation of personal computers and the World Wide Web, technology has moved on to the creation of various computer and web applications that users can enjoy while using their personal computers or laptops. Today, web applications are no longer designed just for personal computers, but for the iPhone and iPad as well. Since web applications became popular, a lot of people wanted to have access to them while they are on the road using their iPhones. This was the start of iPhone Web Apps. iPhone Web Apps were designed and created to be compatible with iPhones so that people can use them anytime they want to without the need for a desktop or laptop. They can play all of their favorite web applications, browse through their favorite shops, pay their bills, do business, manage important documents, learn about the latest trends in fashion, movies and television, and a whole lot more right in the palm of their hands with the new iPhone web apps.

There are several companies around the world that are offering fully customizable iPhone Web applications, making them quite popular to millions of people. The iPhone Web Apps function by using the Internet's power and combining it with the smart technology used in iPhones to create a one-of-a-kind experience for its users. There are plenty of iPhone apps available today that are certainly all the rage; but with the launch of iPhone web apps, people began clamoring for more that can make their way of life a little bit easier.

Companies that develop web applications for iPhone follow certain rules or guidelines when developing one. First, they make sure that their creations are simple by providing an interface that is less complex so that anyone can use them easily. Second, the web applications have multi-touch support for easy navigation, which is exactly what users are looking for. Third, the companies developing iPhone web apps see to it that their products are bug-free and risk-free so their customers will not worry, and also that they are interactive to be more entertaining. And last but not the least, the companies see to it that their web applications can be used on both iPhones and iPod Touch, making them more accessible and convenient to a larger number of users.

iPhone web applications are done with the help of different environments, programs and platforms such as Xcode, Cocoa Touch Framework and iPhone SDk to make them compatible to different versions of the iPod and iPhone. Different web applications like games, utilities, multimedia, communication, and business are only some of those applications that are being created frequently; and because the needs of people are growing, companies are doing their best in developing more. The iPhone web apps are known to make use of smart technology, making them interactive and ready to use at any time. People are sure to find their iPhone web apps experience a good one with these guarantees coming from the developing companies.

Just like any product, iPhone web apps can easily disappear from the market if they fail to meet the requirements of users and if there is no proper advertisement. Companies that are developing these web applications are not only focusing on the development of the application, but also with how the product can be marketed in the right way for their clients to make sure that potential buyers and users flock their way wherever they may be. To achieve this, most companies follow the pre-launch and post-launch technique as well as virals, videos, commercials, and the like for the advertisement of the product. These are great ways to make the public aware of new iPhone web apps being sold in the market today to increase sales.

Who would have thought that web applications will soon be accessed using only a handphone? This technology has certainly bridged the power of the web and the smart technology of the handphone, making it one of the most used and favorable applications today. iPhone web apps are already becoming popular; and with the frequent release of new applications, they are becoming highly recommended to those who have not tried using one.

iPhones and iPod Touch are being sold left and right because of the successful marketing skills of several companies that developed iPhone web applications. A lot of people are now becoming interested with these applications and are willing to try them to understand why they are becoming the talk of the town. With companies constantly coming up with ways to make iPhone applications more interesting and highly entertaining, people can't wait to hear the latest news and probably buy the latest products. Searching online for new web applications for the iPhone is definitely the best way for people to learn more about them and how they can be used or downloaded for their handphones.

Create and Earn Money With Your Own iPhone App

Apple started out a complete new industry when they entered the cellular phone organization with the iPhone. Not only is Apple earning massive funds with all the iPhone itself, it is also making huge funds for Apps for iPhone OS. An app for iPhone is accessible only in iTunes, Apple's media player/organizer computer software which also acts as a point of sale system or on-line shopping cart. iPhone apps or applications for the iPhone are typically extremely useful and entertaining. They enhance the iPhone by adding numerous functionalities to the iPhone which can be not included inside the built-in OS. An iPhone app is offered in iTunes for every model released such as the very first generation iPhone, the iPhone 3Gs along with the lately released iPhone 4.

When the iPod was released, everybody wanted the sleek, revolutionary music player with all the really aesthetic form factor which only Apple engineers can come up with. When Apple announced its entry into the cellular phone industry, every person was excited in obtaining an iPhone which turned out to be better-looking and more revolutionary than the iPod. The iPhone was intended to be versatile like all other smartphones. Although it had a number of shortcomings like its lack of 3G assistance and easy cut and paste, Apple answered these difficulties with all the release of the 3G, 3GS as well as the iPhone four.

Even considering that the first-generation iPhone, apps for iPhone instantly became a branch of the IT business with most main application developers scrambling to release an iPhone app. Even so, with Apple's

mantra of control and top quality, only the very best apps make it to iTunes. This organization model is comparable to Nintendo's early practice of giving a seal of quality or approval to games for the Nintendo Entertainment System thereby curtailing the number of mediocre games. Apple goes a single step further by checking the apps for iPhone themselves and promoting the applications only through iTunes.

An app is generally modest, helpful, attractive and simple to utilize and for games, extremely addicting. Nonetheless, the most beneficial characteristic of iPhone apps is that they're extremely inexpensive. One of the most pricey iPhone app can visit as much as thirty dollars even though the least expensive are underneath a dollar. The low price tag of iPhone apps is because of Apple's ever escalating consumer base. An iPhone app developer can earn as a lot as numerous million dollars if numerous million iPhone users acquire the application from iTunes. Simply because apps for iPhone are affordable, a common iPhone user can have a number of pages of apps installed in their Phone. Many apps have versions which might be compatible for all iPhone models such as the Phone 3GS and also the Phone four.

Like numerous other intelligent phones, there are several categories of applications that may be installed inside the iPhone. Apps also fall into a number of categories like productivity which incorporate applications that boost the iPhone's company value like enhanced messaging, to-do lists and schedulers; entertainment like casual games, music players, radio applications, video viewers and e-book readers; utilities which boost or adds more functionalities, like app launchers, battery managers, GPS systems, rulers and even compass applications. Some popular functionalities have already been incorporated into newer iPhone models such as the iPhone four and iPhone 3GS.

Hawaii Least Stressed State for Third Straight Year; Stressed States Clustered in West, Northeast

In 2010, Hawaiian residents were the least likely to report having been stressed the previous day, according to Gallup daily surveys that encompassed over 350,000 interviews. Only 30.2% said they experienced stress, as compared with the 45.1% of residents in Utah, the most stressed state this past year. 2010 marked the third consecutive year that Hawaiian residents were the least stressed; Utah and Kentucky have scored in the top two most stressed states the past three years.

States with over 40% of their residents reporting stress--what Gallup designates as the "higher" range for states--were mostly in the West and Northeast, although Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia, and Kentucky were also within the higher range.

States that scored in the lower range--with under 38% of their residents reporting stress--were "primarily located in parts of the Midwest." Overall, 39.4% of Americans said they were stressed, similar to the percentages in 2009 (39.9%) and 2008 (38.8%).

Results suggest that stress is a "complex emotion" and that there is not a single factor--such as economic standing--that determines how stressed an individual, or a state as a whole, is. Writes Gallup: "That stress levels did not increase much during the recession provides additional evidence that Americans' definition of stress goes beyond economic experiences." Some of the most stressed states have relatively high income levels and health, and three high-stress states--Connecticut, Utah and Massachusetts--rate their lives highly.

The New Keynesian Phillips Curve – methodological dead-end

Couple days ago we presented a Phillips curve for Germany.  When unemployment leads inflation (the GDP deflator) by one year in the model, one can explain about 80 per cent of the variability in the inflation time series. The model residual error can be explained by measurement errors and with increasing accuracy one could reach a much higher predictive power. This is a simple way of explanation which meets general requirements of scientific methodology. Economics and econometrics are likely to violate this methodology in order to fit own understanding of reality.
The new Keynesian Phillips curve (NKPC) and many other economic and econometric models are based on an assumption that the future inflation value must depend on its current and/or past values and additional variables related to economic activity. Among many others, it might be unemployment , output gap or marginal labor cost.  To define the input of the activity variable one has to apply an econometric model which is similar (but not equivalent) to linear regression and calculate relevant coefficients in the relationship:

P(t+1)=a0P(t) +a1P(t-1)+ ….anP(t-n) + b0U(t)+b1U(t-1) ….
where P(t) is the inflation time series and U(t) is the rate of unemployment.  Instead of using advanced VAR models we apply simple linear regression to the German inflation (Figure 1) and unemployment (Figure 2) time series. There is a series of models with increasing complexity. In model M1, the original time series is regressed against itself with lag 1. The slope of 0.86 and R2=0.744 in table 1 demonstrate a high level of correlation which is well expected. The inflation time series varies with a period larger than 1 year. A crucial characteristic of the model is its accuracy as expressed as RMSE=0.00955. Thus, the uncertainty of one year ahead forecast is 0.96% in Germany between 1973 and 2010. For a purely naïve model, which does not include the intercept in the regression, RMSE=0.0097.
In model M2, we use lags 1 and 2. This model is even worse than model 1 with R2=0.738 and RMSE=0.00967. Therefore, lag=2 does not help much and we include U(t) in model 3. This new term dramatically change the model. Coefficient b0=-0.34 steals some input from a0, which is now only 0.57. It means that one can explain same variations in the DGDP time series using its lagged values or the unemployment series. In model 3, individual inputs are shared almost proportionally, as required for collinear parts of regressed time series. Is it a fair division of influence?  Let’s look closer.
The input of U(t) can be masked by  the influence of the lagged values of inflation. In order to estimate the true effect of unemployment on inflation one needs to exclude all past values of inflation.  Models 5 and 6 try the unemployment time series and its lagged version. We have expected the outcome since it was obtained previously and described in our post on the Phillips curve in Germany. Model M6 with unemployment lagged by one year has all merits: R2=0.80 and RMSE=0.0084. Why should one use the NKPC if it does not reach the predictive power of the original Phillips curve? The explanation is simple and sad. Economics and, in part, econometrics are the hostages of prejudice and unjustified assumptions (rational expectations and likes).
Mathematically, any student knows that one must not decompose a function into any set of functions which are not orthogonal. Otherwise, the decomposition cannot be completely resolved, and thus, is unreliable.  The NKPC makes this school-level mistake and decomposes inflation into a set of non-orthogonal functions. This is a methodological dead-end. It will always mask real influence of true inflation drivers, such as unemployment as models M3 and M4 demonstrate. One can check that the VAR models with the same lags give almost the same coefficients as in table 1.

Gov. Johnson's Plan to Balance the Budget Tomorrow

To his credit, one of the few fair Fox News interviews with GOP Presidential Candidate Gov. Gary Johnson on was broadcast last night on the Sean Hannity Show:

Gov. Johnson hit a nerve with me by focusing on the most important issue facing our nation:  the boldest plan I have heard from any Presidential candidate to balance the budget:
I'm under the belief that we're on the verge of a financial collapse...that's in lieu of the fact that we have $14 Trillion dollars in debt and we have no ability to repay $14 Trillion dollars in debt if we're racking up $1.6 Trillion dollars in deficit spending this year, the year prior, two years prior, and the years looking ahead.  Look, we're not going to pay back $14 Trillion dollars in debt.  So what we have to do is embark on balancing the federal budget tomorrow.
Gov. Johnson next puts forth his common-sense plan on how to balance the budget including entitlement reductions.  The plan was credible given Gov. Johnson's recap earlier in the interview of his competent financial stewardship in balancing the budget in the 2-1 registered Democrat state of New Mexico.

The latter part of the interview focuses on the drug issue Hannity and some other Republicans might take issue with.  Legalizing drugs is such a small ripple compared of the tsunami of debt threatening to destroy the entire nation, I don't worry about Gov. Johnson's views.  Besides, if some Mormon members close to me can overlook Obama's views on abortion despite their belief system that abortion is wrong--because they mistakenly believed that then Sen. Obama (with no fiscal track record) would keep our nation's fiscal house in order--then I certainly could support someone with a controversial issue that has little to do with balancing the budget.  Simply put, there is no candidate I completely agree with on every issue.

And yet as an ardent defender of the 10th Amendment, I find it impossible to justify the federal government's unwarranted regulation of drugs at a national level and feel legalization is an issue left to the states.

My prima donna issue for 2012 is to find the candidate most likely not only to balancing the budget, but in paying down the debt and if you agree, then I would assert you need to consider adding, as I have, Gov. Johnson to your list of preferred Presidential candidates.

Real economic growth. The importance of being … small

Here, we compare real economic growth based on real GDP per capita, G. In developed countries, annual increment of GDP per capita is constant over time with all fluctuations caused by the change in the age pyramid. The average value of the annual increment of GDP per capita varies between countries, however. Among large economies, the USA grows with the highest annual increment.  In that sense, it is the most efficient economy.

Lately, we presented several posts showing the difference between real GDP per capita in the USA, Gusa,  and select countries, Gi:

dG = Gusa-Gi

When the difference dG has a positive trend, the gap with the USA increase with time. When dG has a negative trend, this country grows faster than the USA. There are not many economies outperforming the U.S. since 1990. Six developed countries deserve special consideration: Ireland, Norway, Luxembourg, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Trinidad and Tobago which joined recently.  Figure 1 demonstrates that these six economies all have negative trend in the dG time series. Ireland, the biggest among them, has been experiencing problems since 2006.

Hence, one can conclude that small countries have higher probability to grow fast. To be small is not enough, however!

More Americans Concerned about Raising Debt Limit than Government Default

More Americans fear the consequences of raising the debt limit than a potential government default, according to the most recent national survey conducted by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press and The Washington Post from May 19-22. 48% of Americans say their greater concern is that raising the debt limit would increase government spending and lead to higher debt, as compared with 35% who say their greatest concern is that not raising the debt limit would lead to a government default and hurt the economy.

An even larger majority (60%) of Republicans fear more that raising the debt limit would lead to higher spending and a larger national debt, and 49% of independents share that view, with only 34% more concerned about a potential government default. Among individuals who identify as Democrats, however, 48% say their main concern is a government default, compared with 38% who take the opposite stance. But despite most Americans' willingness to take a stance on the issue, survey results show that the debt debate has not resonated with many of them. Only 25% of Americans say they have heard a lot about the debate, with 38% saying they have heard a little and 37% nothing at all. And many Americans do not claim to have a strong understanding of the issue's consequences:"Half of Americans (50%) say they feel like they understand the possible implications of not raising the debt limit very well (18%) or fairly well (32%), though nearly as many (47%) say they do not have a good understanding of what would happen if the debt limit is not raised."

And although more Americans say of greater concern is increasing the debt limit, large majorities fear both the consequences of raising the debt limit and failing to raise it. 77% say they are somewhat or very concerned that raising the debt limit would lead to higher spending and debt, while 73% say they are somewhat or very concerned that not raising the limit would cause the government to default and the economy to falter.
Republicans appear to feel more strongly about the issue than Democrats: 61% of Republicans say they are very concerned about raising the debt limit, as compared with 48% of Democrats who say they are very concerned that not raising the debt limit would lead to a government default.
