In the next of the National Trust's London Lates, the Rivoli Ballroom in South London will play host to an immersive film experience inspired by Baz Luhrmann's Strictly Ballroom, presented by the London Project and Hacked Off Films.
For one night only you can live your ballroom dream. A flamenco guitarist and a dance coach will get you in the mood before ‘Scott’ dances past recalling Strictly Ballroom’s much loved Paso Doble scenes. This is a unique opportunity to waltz beneath the chandeliers, Chinese lanterns and glitter balls in the plush red velvet interiors of the Rivoli.
Hacked Off Films and the London Project will also be presenting a full screening of Strictly Ballroom. Dance yourself silly at the Strictly Ballroom disco with recognisable tracks from the film and more classic dance numbers. There are many more surprises in store on the night at this Strictly Ballroom extravaganza.
Tickets are available from www.nationaltrust.org.uk/london: £26 (£20 for students)

The Lewisham Hospital Victory Dance
On the Brockley forum, Tamsin writes:
Ticket prices reduced from the earlier flyers that have gone round and about. £20 still gratefully accepted as a "donation rate", but there's also standard at £10 and concessions are now £5.
Tickets available online - http://www.savelewishamhospital.com/victory-event-rivoli/ but they can also be bought in person at Brockley Market on Saturday 7th September, New Cross Learning and, of course, at the Celebration in Ladywell Fields after the Parade on 14th September.
The Save Lewisham Hospital Campaign are facing more legal costs - the Secretary of State is appealing Mr Justice Silber's decision in favour of the Campaign and Council - so the "Victory Dance" is also a fundraiser.

8pm - 1am, Saturday 23rd March, £14 in advance or £16 on the night.
The Rivoli Ballroom hosts another fun filled costume ball night. The Rivoli Ballroom is one of the most beautiful venues in London, if not the UK.
The ballroom inspires you to make a grand entrance and to let down your hair and escape from reality and lose yourself back in time.
With the Fabulous Lounge Swingers playing live and DJ Kobayashi playing some happy retro tunes this all makes for a night of letting loose on the dance floor.

Kermit us to indulge ourselves with some of our favourite Muppet moments
Time for some Gonzo journalism: The new Muppet movie is being filmed at the Rivoli Ballroom today. Details are Fozzie at this stage, but BCer Scott reports that he has seen director James Bobbit walking the streets of Crofton Park today. If you get a Beaker any of the stars, let us know.
