2012 LGBT Marketing Conference in New York The Best Yet

Our recent 2012 LGBT Marketing Conference, in partnership with Community Marketing and held on May 18, 2012 at the Eventi Hotel in New York City was the best yet... going into its 6th year for 2013, it can only continue to expand and grow from there.

The topics, as well as both the style and the quality of presentations, was exceptional.  Tom Roth and David Paisley of Community Marketing led the introduction and presentation, focusing on LGBT marketing trends and observations based up analysis of their most recent LGBT survey.  With the discussion also highlighting the importance of social media in how gays & lesbians discover news, travel destinations and more online, it was a perfect segue to our presentation on Social Media Marketing.  We debuted a fully updated presentation (see blog report here - http://themostsearched.blogspot.com/2012/05/pink-banana-media-updated-lgbt-social.html)  with a number of key new points made in terms of both mobile marketing and the role of influencers in today's social media marketing world.

New to our conference roster was the presentation entitled "Beyond Demographics:  LGBT Identity Insights and Implications", done by Danielle Cherry of SMG Multicultural and Michael Desmarais of Logo.  Joe Keenan (New Avenue Marketing) and Harold Levine then did an incredible job talking about "the original social network" of real world event marketing, with case studies offered and tie-ins to current event marketing using online social media as well.

Case studies were then presented by Mark Ng of Wells Fargo, highlighting their 25 year history in the LGBT market, as well as Merryn Johns of Curve Magazine (lesbian market) and Matt Tumminello of Target 10, offering a case study of a K-Y marketing program targeting the lesbian community.

The lunch keynote speaker was Herndon Graddick, the incoming new president of GLAAD, offering the attendees a greater understanding of both the history of GLAAD and their importance in the ever-evolving LGBT world today.  Afternoon presentations then migrated more to the world of mobile marketing and search engine optimization, offered by Serge Gojkovich of Grindr and Scott Gatz of GayCities.com and Queerty.com.

Both the NGLCC-NY with Richard Oceguera and Out Professionals with Charlie Conard offered brief presentations about their respective organizations, with the Out Professionals networking reception being held immediately after the conference in the conference area lobby, allowing everyone a very welcome opportunity to mix and mingle.

Attendees were of a high-caliber as well, including Estee Lauder, Hilton, Diageo, American Airlines, Carat, Pernod Ricard and Coca Cola.

Stay tuned in the coming months for information on next year's 6th Annual LGBT Marketing Conference.
