Waggly Tales Theatre Company is performing our original show, The Magic Tea Kettle, at family-friendly pubs in southeast London this autumn half term (Thursday 31 October – Saturday 2 November) and as part of the Lewisham Fringe Festival on Sunday 3rd November. The show, which had a sell-out run in June this year, is for kids aged two to seven - and babies come free.
The Magic Tea Kettle, inspired by a Japanese folktale, is packed with music, mayhem, magic and oodles of laughs. When cheeky Prince Arnold is turned gloomy and dull by a Moody Fairy, his best friend Sophie the Witch has to break the spell. Luckily for hr, help is at hand from a rather smelly but very magical Badger Tea Kettle. Waggly Tales also offers post-show workshops with the cast and director.

Yogatini is a local yoga practice dedicated to children and teenagers. Children's yoga is not just about a few poses and stretches! Yoga teaches us to look after our bodies and our minds. It can help your child relax, energise and reduce stress in a fun environment.
I'll be running the classes on Wednesdays from 10-11 for pre-school children (aged 2 1/2 - 4) and after school 3.30 - 4.15 (aged 5 - 9). If there's a lot of interest I can always add in additional classes. I'm hoping to run a class for teenagers too if there is interest. Classes are starting soon at Room 104, The Tea Factory, Endwell Road.

The Beehive present a Creative Theatre Workshop for 5 to 8 year-olds, which will culminate in a performance of Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream.
The workshop is facilitated by Abigail Kessel, Katy Robb, and Victoria Waddington (Katy is a member of St Catherine’s congregation).
It will feature contemporary dance, singing, drama, prop making and scenery painting and promises to be safe, fun, engaging and a great way to introduce children to theatre.

New Cross Library summer season for kids
Our summer reading challenge for kids is themed ‘Creepy House' and starts from 30th July. Get creative with arts and crafts (mainly Thursdays 2-4pm), magical mystery walks and picnics every Friday (11am-2pm; just turn up).and storytelling sessions (mainly Wednesdays 2.30-3.30pm).
For Alice in Wonderland lovers, the final storytelling event will be a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party on Wednesday 28th August.
We are continuing the usual programme throughout July and August – including our free and very well attended Baby Bounce sessions, street dance, zumba, knitting and poetry workshops.

Big Red Kids
BC threw a kids' party at the Big Red pizza bus recently, which is a great place to book in the morning, for the price of a bulk-load of margaritas. And we were pretty pleased with ourselves until a couple of weeks' later our daughter went to an even better party at Big Red.
The critical difference between the two parties was that ours relied on us for entertainment, whereas the rival party had booked Tea Dance for Little People, who staged some sort of gonzo theatre vampire experience, which evidently blew our efforts out of the water. This summer, the TD4LP crew are going to be the children's entertainers in-residence.

Brockley Beaver shortage reaches crisis point
Last year, BC mentioned the Crofton Park Beavers' leader recruitment drive as the group was running at full capacity. We're sad to report that the situation has now reached a "critical point". Adam explains:
We urgently require a leadership team to run our Beaver Colony. This can be a team of two who can commit every week or it can be a team of five, six, seven who rotate depending on availability. Without new volunteers, we will have to close the Beavers colony in the near future.

As a father with two kids, who works all week long in the city, with a loving wife who could do with a break, I think it would be nice if Brockley fathers in the same boat could meet up on Saturday or Sunday morning and enjoy spring mornings. We could arrange visits to places like the Horniman, Hilly Fields or Dulwich.

Ark in the Park
