Patchwork Present opens

Patchwork Present is open. The digital start-up team have been beavering away in their Harefield Road base for months and launched their group-gifting website last week.

The site, which they describe as a hybrid of Pinterest and Kickstarter, allows people to break down big presents into constituent parts, so that rather than simply putting money into a pot, people can choose which element of the present they want to give: For example, want to contribute to your friends' honeymoon? You can choose whether to buy them their first cocktails when they arrive at their hotel, their ride from the airport or the flights themselves.

Founder Olivia Knight says:

As my nan has helpfully pointed out - “It’s not a new idea. It’s a whip-round, love” - and she’s right.

Content & Community Manager needed at Patchwork Present

Harefield Road start-up Patchwork Present is hiring. They say:

Patchwork Present is a group gift platform that lets friends come together to fund one gift that’s really wanted – piece by piece. Our site is launching soon so we’re looking for a content and community manager to join our team.

We’re a small team. Our studio is a shop in Brockley, South East London. Each member of the team is responsible for one aspect of the business. This role is everything social. You will be solely responsible for all social media platforms – from generating and planning creative content to implementing and documenting the response. On top of the usual Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest you will be responsible for providing brilliant blog posts about Patchwork Present and the things we’re interested in. Any expansion into guest bloggers will also be managed by you. You will be in control of developing our social media channels, growing the audience and building the community.

Project Patchwork

Patchwork Presents is a start-up business opening in Harefield Road shortly, replacing Leaf Lettings.

The unit is tiny, which makes it unsuitable for most traditional retail, but as a location for an online retail business - especially one run by four friends, three of whom live in Brockley - it's perfect. Although it will function as their office, rather than their store, the property will serve as a drop-in for interested customers and partners and the window display will add a splash of colour to the parade.
