PARLIAMENT OF WHORES!

by Rose Tennent

The headlines -- for some time now – Have been all about the glitches in the Obamacare website. But you know that the real problem with the law isn't the website. That will eventually get fixed. What won't get fixed is what this administration and Democrats have done to us directly. And what some Republicans in D.C. have done to us indirectly. They have allowed what is possibly the worst piece of legislation to become the law of the land.

Some Republican leaders had the nerve to criticize Ted Cruz and Mike Lee and others who were looking out for the welfare of the American people. Will those who criticized Cruz and the Tea Party apologize now that the chickens have come home to roost? (Will McCain and the others say "thank you"?) Don't hold your breath. These same Republicans that threw Cruz under the bus lacked the balls to criticize Obama and the same Democrats who brought us the Affordable Care Act.

They fought more vigorously against their own party than they did against those who brought you Obamacare.

These men are cowards. The men that came out of the closed door meetings, leaking stories to the press about Cruz...criticizing him to a media that takes delight in this type of backstabbing. They are cowards, not leaders.

Those men attacked Lee and Cruz during the shutdown then left the closed door meeting and leaked details of the off-the-record meeting to the media. They did this with one purpose in mind--to demean them. To undermine them. And dare I say, to endear themselves to a press that cares nothing for them. What did Cruz and Lee do to deserve this?

They had the nerve to fight on behalf of the American people. To protect you and me.

There are real stories about real people who are hurting as a result of Obamacare. People are losing their jobs, their coverage, and their doctors.

How devastating for us that the traitors of the American people were not just the Democrats, not only Obama--but some Republicans as well.

They did not have our backs. We now know that we could never be confident that those men and women would watch out for us.

We can't be sure that they would do whatever they could to be certain that nothing was done unless it was in our best interest.

A true leader has our back. But, the coward is the man who offered no solutions during the years before Obamacare became the law of the land.

The coward was quick to shut down the only strategies that some courageous leaders were willing to put forth.

One Republican leader suggested that rather than defund Obamacare, perhaps we should take a more gradual approach. A gradual approach--just weeks before the October deadline? The time for a gradual approach was years ago.

That man is not a leader. Have we abandoned the idea that it is our responsibility to lead? Do we fully understand that by refusing to take on that yoke of responsibility,  we ourselves are then responsible for the decline we are experiencing. Have we, as author Rosalie Slater once said, "spent too many years of worshipping the effects of our great success while forgetting the cause of our success"?

Perhaps we have allowed ourselves to become too comfortable in the pleasures that living in a free and prosperous nation afforded us.

And by doing so, we have forgotten what it was that led us here in the first place.

Do we not--each of us--bear some responsibility? And if we do, is it not then up to each of us to preserve the effects of our great success? We have been given a freedom, a blessing even--to choose our representation. This is an awesome responsibility.

Noah Webster once said about this:

"When you become entitled to exercise the right of voting for public officers, let it be impressed on your mind that God commands you to choose for rulers just men who will rule in the fear of God.
The preservation of a republican government depends on the faithful discharge of this duty.
If the citizens neglect their duty and place unprincipled men in office, the government will soon be corrupted;

laws will be made not for the public good so much as for selfish or local purposes; corrupt or incompetent men will be appointed to execute the law;

the public revenues will be squandered on unworthy men; and the rights of the citizens will be violated or disregarded.”

Well well well. Laws will be made not for the public good. And as a result the rights of the citizens will be violated or disregarded. Oh, Noah. That is precisely where we have found ourselves. We have not heeded his warning concerning our obligation to choose rulers that are just men.

As a result, we have found ourselves being led by cowards. By men who do not have our best interests at heart.

Who are the real leaders? Are they the Republicans in Washington who criticized their own? Who did not look out for us? Who didn't even have our backs?

The leaders we want look a lot like the Ted Cruz's and Mike Lee's. Men and women who not only know what is right --but aren't afraid to point out what is wrong even in the midst of criticism.

The only leaders we must accept are those who--once the have established the difference between right and wrong-- stand their ground without wavering and without compromise.

Once we have lost our freedoms it will be difficult, if not impossible, to regain them. Our republic must be preserved. To do that our republic must be preserved. To do that we require real leaders.

Perhaps it's time to consider your role and involvement in politics. Even at a local level. It is a privilege to serve.

If you think that you couldn't possibly-- remember that God has equipped us to be capable servants.

Whether it is running for public office ourselves or electing the right man or woman to serve in office--it is our duty to be sure that we are represented by people of character.

We must seek out leaders that demonstrate the same virtues and commitments that those who established this country demonstrated.

To do less--is in my opinion- the greatest insult to those great men.

"Because power corrupts, society's demands for moral authority and character increase as the importance of the position increases." --John Adams

Let us accept nothing less in the future than a demand for moral authority and good character from those who will lead us.
